Why Engagement Sessions Matter | From a Knoxville Wedding Photographer

Engagement sessions are one of my favorite things to do as a Knoxville Wedding Photographer. Being engaged is such a sweet time for a couple and it’s often full of excitement. You get to capture special, one-of-a-kind emotions during an engagement session. Those emotions are totally different from the wedding day and absolutely deserve to be documented. Being in a season of engagement is a constant build of excitement and anticipation for your future with your forever person. There’s just a glow that can’t be described by anything other than the word “bride” and that glow only grows stronger as fiance turns to bride and bride turns to wife.

Get Comfortable in Front of a Camera

Engagement sessions are also a great way for couples to get comfortable in front of a camera. If you have never had professional photos taken before, your engagement photos will give you the opportunity to loosen up and not be so nervous when a camera is pointed in your direction.

Get to Know your Wedding Photographer and Vice Versa

I always tell my brides, “You spend more time with me on your wedding day than you do your groom.” And that is so true. It is so important to pick a photographer that will take the time to know you! Engagement sessions are a good way for your professional wedding photographer to get to know you as a couple better before your wedding day. Knowing your couple and what works for them goes a long way on the wedding day when weather is unpredictable and you are working on a timeline. As a Knoxville Wedding Photographer, I learn so much from engagement sessions with my couples that helps me know the best ways to approach photos with them on their wedding day to ensure I’m highlighting key things about them as a couple and documenting their story in the most authentic and best way possible.

People Love to See Your Beautiful Face

Another thing I quickly learned as a professional wedding photographer is that people LOVE seeing photos of you during this season! Engagement photos allow you to share this sweet season with the people who love you the most. You can post your photos to social media, print them for grandma, and design cute save the dates to share with your guests. These may be some of the first photos (outside of your amazing wedding day images) that you print to hang up in your new home.

Try Your Wedding Day Makeup

One last tip from this Knoxville Wedding Photographer: Schedule your wedding day makeup trial on the same day as your engagement session so you can see how it looks professionally photographed. This gives you the opportunity to make any changes you may want before your wedding day!
